Carol Bratton AIBAIn October 2003 I became self employed as Business Advisor and established my own Business to offer a complete business package to clients combining consultancy work with expertise from a network of outside associates.

As an Independent Business Advisor I have been working with SME’s and Social Enterprises across the East Midlands for over three years.

Businesses will receive an individually tailored support package after completion and analysis of a Business Health Check.

Services include offering General Business Advice as well as a personalized company support package, and on occasions being asked to Mentor Businesses, as well as giving advice on how to Grow and Develop their Business and/or ideas.

Present Contract:

2003 - ongoing - Lincolnshire Development at Lincolnshire County Council -  On a Consultancy Basis

  • Assisting clients (SME’s) to receive funding from Social Loan Fund
  • Analyzing and assisting with Business Plans and Cash-flow Forecasts
  • Compiling monthly reports
  • Attending monthly award panels
  • Monitoring clients at regular intervals offering on-going business advice

Achievements

  • To date 180 clients have been assisted to start or expand their business through the Lincolnshire Social Loan Fund.
  • Successfully completed monitoring audits and assist with Debt Management

  • Responsible for offering business start up advice to new and newly set up businesses.

2004 - 2006  Business In Prisons - Mentor Co-ordinator – Part-time

  • Responsible for setting up BIP’s Mentoring Programme
  • Recruited Mentors and matched them to clients
  • Monitored Mentor/Client relationships
  • Designed and lead Mentor Skills training workshops across the country
  • Responsible for the Mentoring Programme as a whole

Achievements

  • Implemented the Mentoring Programme
  • Met targets for recruitment of mentors on to the programme

  • Was employed as a Part-time Business Advisor, to advise SME’s directed through Business Link Lincoln and start-up Businesses on how to develop their businesses and signposted to outside agencies for further assistance.
